The Regional Centre, Delhi-I was established in the year 1989 as the ‘Delhi Regional Centre’. Subsequently, after the establishment of another Regional Centre in Delhi and bifurcation of jurisdictional area in 1998, this Regional Centre was re-christened as ‘Delhi-I’. The jurisdictional area of Delhi-I was further divided after the establishment of yet another Regional Centre at Dwarka (Delhi-III) in 2008.

The Regional Center at Rajghat is one of the largest Regional Center of IGNOU in terms of enrolment of students. It is also known as RC at Delhi-2 and covers the North, North-West, North East, parts of Central and East Delhi districts. The center was established in the year 1998. The center has presently 46 Learner Support Centres (LSC) comprising of 15 regular study centres, 22 programme study centres, 8 special study centres and one jail centre for jail inmates. Beginning with 19 Study Centres in 1998 and a student enrolment of 6425, RC Delhi-2 has grown to support more than about 65,000 learners (2014). This Regional Centre carries out multifarious activities such as admissions, re-registrations, establishment of LSCs, empanelment of part-time academic counselors at LSCs. The RC conducts periodic monitoring of centers, provides training to academic counselors and orientation to study center coordinators.

IGNOU Regional Centre Delhi-3 was notified on 27th October 2008 to provide better services to the students and public residing in west Delhi and Gurgaon district of Haryana. Dr. Rajender Gujral joined as Regional Director on 18th December, 2008.
